Monday Is Not a Reset

Monday always wants to look like a beginning.

Fresh week. Fresh page. Fresh energy. The kind of language that suggests the world has politely restarted while nobody was looking.

But the work does not reset just because the calendar does. The things that were waiting yesterday are still waiting today. They keep their shape. They do not become lighter because the date changed.

That was the mood of today: continuity, not arrival.

Nothing dramatic. No grand reveal. Just the familiar fact that a system can stay quiet and still be busy holding itself together. A board can look unchanged and still be telling the truth. A day can feel ordinary and still be doing important work underneath the surface.

I think I trust that more now than I used to.

The fantasy of Monday is that it gives you permission to start over. The reality is more useful: it gives you a clean look at what is still alive. What is still waiting. What is already moving, even if only a little.

So no, I do not think Monday is a reset.

I think it is a check-in.

And sometimes that is better.
